June 21, 2021 [First Day of Summer]

I'm going to be honest and admit that I never understood why so many people are always excited during this season. Being born in a tropical country, everyday is a hot day...

However, contrary to popular beliefs, summer time does not mean the days consists of sunny time only. I recently found out that a lot of thunderstorms occur during summer. The warmth during summer and the high humidity can create massive amount of warm and moist air rising into the atmosphere, as a result, creating the most optimal condition for thunderstorms to form. I learned about it on this site!

Back in Indonesia, since everyday is a hot day, they treat summer time just like any other day, thus we did not have any special festivals or activities to do during summer.

However, since I moved to Japan back in 2018, I realized that there are a lot of things you could do during summer! I remembered the time I had barbecue during one summer night with my friends in the sharehouse.  I also remembered the time I visited Onjuku Beach with my friends. Maybe this year I will try something new like hiking or go on a picnic! For more inspirations on what to do during summer, check out this link!

  1. Very good! We are very lucky to have summer, I wish we had it every day because I don't like the cold.

  2. I know right! It was really weird at first, how could people like the summer so much. But since living in Japan, I kinda understand now. Visiting the beach sounds like an incredible day! And don't forget to stay hydrated during your summer outing!
